Nearly $16,000 Donated to Madison County Emergency Services

Crescere Agri-Resort (cres-er-ray) raised nearly $16,000 at its debut event! The funds, divided equally amongst the Sheriff’s Office, Volunteer Fire Dept. and EMS, are earmarked for special programming and equipment needs.

The phenomenal outpouring of support from folks from the County, the Emergency Services, Madison County Tourism, many other community volunteers, and Crescere’s own enthusiastic staff made this event such a success. Over 40 sponsors made up of individual community members and businesses, many of who also contributed to the Silent Auction, made this fundraiser one to remember.

A lucky winner walked away with a two-night stay at Bella Vista Guest House on Edgewood Miller Farm. But the most heartwarming thing for me was witnessing the huge smiles as neighbors warmly greeted each other and spent a carefree evening surrounded by family and friends.

Folks dancing and relaxing in lawn chairs dotted the hill overlooking the pond as attendees enjoyed fantastic performances by The Dundies, a DC-based rock band, and The Karl Stoll Power Trio. During the event, we took sound readings under the supervision of Sheriff Weaver, as we are well aware of the noise concerns raised by some neighboring community members and we want to ensure that our events do not create a disturbance. We compared pre-event, ambient decibel readings, to the decibel readings while both bands played. The noise level only reached twice that of the ambient sound (not exceeding 53 decibels) at the property perimeter, which is very, very low (similar to a conversation in a home). In addition, the live music concluded at 9 pm.

During intermissions, each of the Emergency Services gave hands-on safety demonstrations which was a lovely way for the public to personally get to know and appreciate those who serve them daily. I personally enjoyed learning how to use a fire extinguisher – so practical, yet so much fun!

Our local wineries, Barboursville Vineyards, Early Mountain Vineyards, Ducard Vineyards, and Revalation Vineyards came out in a big way to support the cause, offering a wide selection of wine varietals for guests to sample. Virginia Eagle Distributing supplied various beers and ciders which were a huge hit.

The bouncy house was enjoyed by many a happy kid, and a hayride offered tours of the farm. The most asked question of the riders… when will the resort be open for business? The excitement surrounding the development of the farm for public enjoyment was expressed over and over.

All in all, about 300 adults and kids, plus 27 community volunteers enjoyed the evening. Can’t wait for the next one!
